Job Description

Psych APRN or PA-C with psych experience The Advanced Practice Professional (APP) provides high-quality, patient-centered care as a member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team. Working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, the APP assesses, diagnoses, treats, and manages patients within their scope of practice and area of specialty. The APP is responsible for delivering evidence-based care, promoting positive patient outcomes, maintaining professional and regulatory standards, and supporting the clinical, educational, and operational goals of the department and organization.
Primary duties:
Monday through Friday position that includes performing inpatient psychiatric consultations for both adult and pediatric patients. The provider must also be flexible and assist with additional Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) responsibilities as needed.
Additional routine responsibilities include:
  • Performing BHU psychiatric evaluations during periods of high census, following multiple overnight admissions, or when electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) cases are scheduled.
  • Completing suicide risk assessments when medical floor attending physicians require psychiatric support or consultation.
  • Providing coverage for biopsychosocial assessments when therapist coverage on the BHU is unavailable or staffing is limited.
  • On rare occasions, responding to and evaluating "stat" psychiatric consultations in the Emergency Department.
The provider will also be expected to independently cover both the BHU and inpatient psychiatric consultation service one Friday each month (12 Fridays per year). Holiday coverage will be required on a rotating basis, with the expectation of covering approximately every third holiday. In addition, the provider will be responsible for tracking psychiatric consultations and suicide risk assessments and submitting activity reports to the Clinical Director and Medical Director as requested.
