Job Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Hospital-Based Podiatrist specializing in Surgical Wound Care! In this vital role, you will deliver expert foot and lower extremity wound management, combining surgical interventions with comprehensive wound care strategies. Your expertise will directly impact patient recovery, prevent complications, and promote optimal healing in a fast-paced hospital environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your podiatric skills within a multidisciplinary team dedicated to exceptional patient care and innovative treatment approaches. Duties Perform surgical procedures related to foot and ankle wounds, including debridement, incision and drainage, and minor amputations Assess complex wound cases using advanced medical imaging techniques to determine appropriate treatment plans Develop and implement individualized wound care protocols, incorporating dressings, offloading devices Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including vascular radiology, infectious disease specialists, and wound providers to optimize patient outcomes Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Cerner to document assessments, procedures, and follow-up plans accurately Educate patients on wound management, preventive foot care, and lifestyle modifications to support healing and prevent recurrence Participate in hospital rounds and contribute to clinical research initiatives aimed at advancing wound care practices Skills Extensive knowledge of podiatric surgical techniques and wound care management in inpatient settings Proficiency with EHR systems such as Cerner and other medical imaging tools for diagnostic evaluation Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and pathology related to lower extremity wounds Experience with advanced treatments including dermatology-based dressings, hyperbaric medicine referrals, and minimally invasive procedures Ability to perform suturing, debridement, and ostomy care as part of comprehensive wound treatment Excellent patient service skills with a focus on education and compassionate communication Familiarity with hospital protocols including HIPAA compliance, infection control practices, and discharge planning processes This role is ideal for motivated healthcare professionals eager to make a meaningful difference through specialized surgical wound care within a supportive hospital environment.
