Experienced Medical Assistant & Pre-Med Candidates Affiliated Foot and Ankle Surgeons is seeking a reliable, patient-focused Medical Assistant to join our busy podiatry practice in New Haven, CT. This is a full-time, in-person position offering competitive hourly pay, excellent benefits, and a consistent weekday schedule. We are looking for a Medical Assistant with strong clinical skills, EMR experience, and a professional, team-oriented attitude. Pre-Med / Gap-Year Opportunity Are you a graduating college or medical student planning to apply to medical school? Our practice also offers an excellent opportunity for graduating students seeking a full-time clinical work experience year prior to applying to medical school . This position provides valuable, hands-on exposure to patient care and the day-to-day operations of a specialty medical practice. Working alongside podiatrists and our clinical team, pre-med candidates will have the opportunity to gain meaningful experience in: Direct patient interaction and compassionate patient care Obtaining and documenting vital signs and medical histories Assisting with in-office procedures and minor surgical treatments Electronic medical records and clinical documentation Patient communication and education Referrals, orders, and coordination of patient care Observing the physician-patient relationship in a specialty medical setting This can be an excellent gap-year clinical experience for motivated students preparing for medical school applications . Candidates who are dependable, eager to learn, compassionate, and interested in pursuing a career in medicine are encouraged to apply. Prior Medical Assistant experience is required for the experienced MA position; however, we welcome graduating students interested in the pre-med clinical experience opportunity to inquire. Medical Assistant Responsibilities Prepare and sanitize exam rooms for podiatry patient visits Take and document vital signs, weight, and medical history updates Assist podiatrist with in-office procedures and minor surgical treatments Enter patient data accurately into EMR system (Epic experience preferred) Process referrals, orders, and clinical documentation Provide excellent customer service and compassionate patient care Medical Assistant Qualifications 1+ year of Medical Assistant experience required for the experienced MA position 1+ year in podiatry or specialty practice preferred EMR/EHR experience required (Epic highly preferred) Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to reliably commute to New Haven, CT For the pre-med/gap-year opportunity: Graduating college students planning to apply to medical school are encouraged to apply Prior clinical experience is preferred but not required for the appropriate candidate Strong academic background and demonstrated interest in medicine Excellent communication, professionalism, and interpersonal skills Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care Ability to work full-time, Monday-Friday Compensation & Benefits $20.00 - $24.00 per hour (based on experience) 401(k) Health insurance Paid time off Retirement plan Free parking Stable Monday-Friday schedule (no nights or weekends) Why Join Our Practice?
