JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Arizona Department of Education School Psychologist, PreK-12 Certificate Masters Degree in Psychology from accredited institution Ph.D. in Psychology preferred Three years' experience as a School Psychologist preferred Knowledge, skill and or experience in the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) strategies or be willing to receive training in those strategies The School Psychologist serves as district-level special education support service which provides psychoeducational assessment and consultation of handicapped children and adolescents. A secondary function of the position is to assist the Director of Exceptional Student Services in matters pertaining to the special education of handicapped students. Provide psychoeducational evaluation of handicapped students as well as consultation with parents and school personnel on issues relating to appropriate educational placement, programming and management. Assesses difficulties of referred students through appropriate testing and diagnostic practices. Administers tests and recommends placement for handicapped students. Helps identify psychoeducational handicapped students. Recommends corrective procedures. Assists and consults in behavioral change programs. Consults on Special Education needs of handicapped children. Attends case conferences on placement of individual students. Acts as a referral agent or consultant in the area of mental health topics. Interprets the school psychologists services to teachers and parents. Prepares and submits required reports on all students in question. Cooperates with personnel of community health and social welfare agencies. Acts as liaison between the school and juvenile court. Attends staff, professional, and interagency meetings. Assists with in-service training of school personnel. Keeps abreast of new developments in the field. Serves as a school liaison with community sources which provide educationally-related support services. Coordinates compliance with

procedures and consultation regarding other regulations pertaining to Special Education. Coordinates and evaluates students at the preschool level to determine eligibility for pre-school services. Participates in planning and placement of students outside of the District. Attends State Department and Agency meetings at the request of the Director. Coordinates mainstreaming efforts on a district-wide level. Makes home visits to parents of Special Education students. Attends conferences and workshops pertaining to school psychology.
