Neuropsychological Assessment Clinician Full-Time Preferred | Part-Time Considered | Palo Alto, California Abbey Neuropsychology Clinic is seeking a Neuropsychological Assessment Clinician to join our team in Palo Alto, California. We are primarily seeking a full-time clinician, but we will consider part-time candidates who are an exceptional fit for the position. We welcome applications from experienced licensed clinicians as well as qualified pre-licensed clinicians who are actively progressing toward California licensure and are eligible to practice under appropriate registration and supervision. This position is for a clinician who genuinely enjoys assessment, thinks carefully about complex clinical questions, and wants neuropsychological assessment to be a central part of their professional work. We are open to both master's-level and doctoral-level candidates whose training, clinical experience, and professional pathway are appropriate for the responsibilities of the position. We are looking for someone who is intellectually curious, writes well, communicates effectively with clients and families, and can integrate information from multiple sources into a coherent understanding of the individual. Prior neuropsychological experience is highly valued, but we will provide training in the specific assessment methods, qEEG integration, and clinical approach used at Abbey. The Position The primary focus of this position is comprehensive neuropsychological assessment . You will work with children, adolescents, and adults presenting with a range of developmental, cognitive, academic, emotional, and neurological concerns. Much of our work involves complex cases in which attention, learning, executive functioning, emotional regulation, development, memory, symptoms from concussion, and other factors interact. Depending on professional scope of practice and demonstrated competencies, responsibilities may include: Conducting clinical and developmental interviews Administering neuropsychological and psychological assessments Scoring and interpreting assessment data Assessing attention and executive functioning Evaluating memory and learning Assessing language and visual-spatial functioning Evaluating academic skills and learning disorders Assessing social, behavioral, and emotional functioning Integrating developmental, educational, psychological, medical, and neurological information Developing comprehensive case formulations Writing clear, clinically meaningful assessment reports Conducting feedback sessions with clients and families Developing individualized recommendations Collaborating with physicians, therapists, schools, and other professionals Participating in multidisciplinary case consultation Learning to incorporate qEEG brain mapping into case conceptualization when appropriate The specific responsibilities of the position will reflect the clinician's professional license, scope of practice, training, and demonstrated competencies. About Abbey Neuropsychology Clinic For more than 19 years, Abbey Neuropsychology Clinic has provided comprehensive neuropsychological assessment and neuroscience-based intervention for children, adolescents, and adults in Palo Alto. Our approach to assessment is somewhat different from a traditional test-and-diagnose model. Diagnosis matters, but we believe an excellent evaluation should do more than identify a disorder. It should help a person or family understand why difficulties are occurring, how different aspects of functioning interact, where strengths can be leveraged, and what can realistically be done next. Our evaluations integrate clinical interviews, developmental history, neuropsychological testing, academic and emotional assessment, and qEEG brain mapping when appropriate. We work with individuals presenting with ADHD, learning disorders, autism, executive functioning difficulties, anxiety, depression, emotional regulation difficulties, concussion and traumatic brain injury, memory concerns, and other complex neurodevelopmental and neurocognitive presentations. Because our clinic provides both assessment and intervention, our clinicians also have the opportunity to see what happens after the evaluation . Rather than completing an assessment and moving immediately to the next case, we are often able to follow clients over time and observe how assessment findings inform treatment and how functioning changes in response to intervention. That longitudinal perspective helps us continually refine our clinical thinking and keeps the individual, rather than the diagnosis or test scores, at the center of the assessment process. How We Think About Assessment We are looking for a clinician who wants to do more than administer tests and generate scores. Strong neuropsychological assessment requires understanding the person behind the data. A test score can tell us something important about a person's functioning, but it rarely tells the entire story. Our clinicians consider how cognitive abilities, developmental history, learning, emotional functioning, neurological factors, environment, and the demands of daily life interact. This requires the ability to recognize patterns, consider competing explanations, integrate information that may initially appear contradictory, and communicate conclusions in a way that is useful to the individual and family. Training in Our Clinical Model We recognize that an experienced clinician joining a new practice will bring an established set of skills while also needing time to learn how that practice approaches assessment. You will receive training in Abbey's assessment process, clinical reasoning approach, report writing, and integration of qEEG brain mapping. Training will be individualized based on your previous experience and areas of expertise. Prior experience with qEEG, neurofeedback, or neurotechnology is not required . Because Abbey provides both assessment and intervention, you will also have exposure to how assessment findings inform individualized treatment planning. This provides an opportunity to see how clinical formulations translate into real-world recommendations and, for many clients, to observe their progress over time.
