Job Description

Full-time Licensed Associate Psychotherapist The Smith Counseling Group, LLC, Chevy Chase, MD (serving Washington, DC & Maryland) About Us The Smith Counseling Group is a multi-disciplinary private practice serving clients across the Washington, DC, Maryland and Northern VA area, with a clinical focus on trauma and eating disorders. We are looking for someone who wants mentorship and to be part of a collaborative and close-knit clinical team while they grow their skills. What We're Looking For We're looking for a therapist who is:
  • Clinically strong — solid foundational skills and good judgment
  • Mature and responsible — reliable, professional, and able to manage a caseload independently once ramped up
  • Hard-working and coachable— willing to put in the effort to learn a new specialty, and open to supervision and feedback
  • Drawn to the structure of a clinic setting — you may be earlier in your career, or transitioning from a different setting, and are looking for the stability, mentorship, and built-in referral base of an established practice rather than solo private practice
  • No prior eating disorder treatment experience required
  • training and supervision will be provided (see below)
  • . What You'll Be Doing
  • Building and managing a full-time outpatient caseload with a specialty in eating disorders and trauma
  • Seeing clients in-person and virtually
  • Participating in weekly clinical supervision as you develop ED and trauma-specific competencies
  • Collaborating with referring providers (dietitians, physicians, higher levels of care) as part of a coordinated treatment approach Training & Development New to eating disorder treatment? We'll support your growth through:
  • One year of dedicated, weekly clinical supervision focused specifically on eating disorder treatment
  • A continuing education budget to support one ED-focused training and one training of your choice Qualifications
  • Master's degree in counseling (MA), marriage and family therapy (MFT), social work (MSW), or PhD/PsyD in psychology
  • Active, unrestricted license to practice independently in Maryland (e.g., LCSW-C, LCPC, LMFT or licensed psychologist) What We Offer
  • 50% fee-split compensation (1099 contractor position) with income up to $200K+
  • Full-time caseload (30+ client hours per week), with a 3-6 month ramp-up period to reach full caseload
  • Primarily in-person, with a mix of telehealth sessions
  • Mentorship and a built-in referral network as you grow into the specialty
  • Certification in Eating Disorders and EMDR
