Aug 17, 2026 Job Description Job Goal(s): The primary job goal of the School Psychologist is to serve as a member of a preschool diagnostic team (birth through five years) in the assessment of students' demonstrating problems which interfere with academic or functional success and to consult with school personnel and families on the development of programs designed to meet individual student's needs.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Master's degree in school psychology required
Certification:
School Psychologist Certificate or eligible for approval as a school psychologist required
Work Experience:
Previous experience in the area of school psychology preferred with background in response to interventions (R & I) and data based decision making processes
Skills:
Ability to provide a comprehensive evaluation of students suspected as having a disability and develop recommendations from evaluation Knowledge of state and federal special education laws Ability to consult with special and regular education teachers regarding the development of an individualized program
Essential Job Functions:
Complete a comprehensive evaluation of students from birth to five years in response to a special education referral, including a comprehensive written report for initial and 3-year re-evaluations. Participate in educational planning by providing appropriate recommendations for programs and/or services. Assist education team in assessing student behavior and developing intervention plans. Effectively communicate, consult, and team with parents, staff, agencies, and others. Adhere to the policies of the Van Buren ISD Complete assigned responsibilities within agreed upon or established timelines. Perform additional tasks, responsibilities, and duties as assigned by the Special Education Supervisor. Valid driver's license required.

As per master agreement and provisions established by the Van Buren Board of Education.
