DUTIES DISCRIPTION
The duties include but are not limited to the following:- Provide timely review and determinations of eligibility submissions.
- Supervise members of the eligibility team.
- Provide clinical leadership, training, support, and technical assistance to the eligibility team.
- Provide clinical review and sign off on determinations for OPWDD eligibility made at first step review.
- Utilize computer platforms for entry and completion of eligibility determinations (proficient computer skills including data entry, use of databases, spreadsheets, and Microsoft products such as word, TEAMS, and SharePoint)
- Support and monitor team compliance through evaluation of reports and data
- Assist with receiving, reviewing, and processing eligibility requests.
- Maintain records and documentation consistent with regulatory requirements and statewide processes.
- Maintain knowledge and ensure consistent implementation of OPWDD policies and procedures.
- Represent the Regional Field Office in local & statewide meetings or trainings regarding OPWDD eligibility.
- Assist in the implementation of new initiatives
- Collaboration, technical assistance and communication with individuals, families, Care Coordination Organizations, agencies, Local Government Units, and other community stakeholders.
- Facilitate eligibility meetings as requested by individuals/families.
- Prepare for and participate in Fair hearings.
- Complete clinical assessments as assigned to include but not limited to MOLST requests, psychological evaluations and requests for evaluations related to forensic needs
- Provide testimony in court matters as required.
- Travel within region 3 will be required.
- Flexibility in schedule is needed and may include evening or weekends as assigned.
- Occasional travel may be required within the state.
- Additional tasks/duties/projects as assigned.

Additional CommentsThis title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). HELPS Program titles may be filled via a non-competitive appointment. This means that you do not need to take an exam to qualify, but you do need to meet the minimum qualifications of the title. At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired underNY HELPS
are expected to have their permanent non-competitive employment status converted to permanent competitive status. You will not have to take an exam to gain permanent competitive status.- Posted Hiring Salary includes the sum of statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 25 ($96,336), Increased hiring rate ($25,077), and Geographic Pay Differential ($20,000). The Geographic Pay Differential is also applied to the posted Job Rate ($121,413).
- If you are currently a New York State employee serving in a permanent competitive qualifying title and eligible for a transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law, you may be appointed to this title as a permanent competitive employee.
- The assignment of PS&T employees will be made in accordance with any agreed upon Memorandum of Understanding between PEF and the local DDSO regarding the posting of job vacancies.
