VITAL Assessments, an emerging family-centered assessment service under BrayMills Education Group, is seeking a licensed psychologist to provide comprehensive psychoeducational and psychological evaluations for children and adolescents. VITAL is being developed to help families move beyond isolated screening results and obtain a clearer understanding of a student's learning profile, diagnostic needs, and appropriate next steps. Primary referral concerns are expected to include learning disorders affecting reading, written expression, and mathematics—including concerns commonly described as dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia—as well as ADHD, executive-functioning difficulties, cognitive concerns, and related academic challenges. Position Structure This is a 1099 independent-contractor opportunity with a flexible, referral-based caseload. The psychologist will retain independent clinical judgment and authority over accepted referrals, evaluation procedures, test selection, diagnostic conclusions, reports, and recommendations. Responsibilities Independently accept or decline referred cases based on competence, availability, and clinical appropriateness Review referral concerns, educational history, developmental information, previous evaluations, and relevant records Determine the appropriate evaluation process and assessment battery for each accepted case Conduct clinical interviews and administer assessments or appropriately oversee qualified assessment personnel when legally, ethically, and professionally permissible Score, interpret, and integrate data from multiple sources Evaluate cognitive, academic, attention, executive-functioning, behavioral, emotional, and neurodevelopmental concerns as appropriate to the referral Make diagnostic determinations when supported by evaluation findings and within the psychologist's authorized scope of practice Prepare and sign clear, comprehensive, and clinically defensible evaluation reports Conduct parent or guardian feedback sessions and explain findings in accessible language Provide practical educational, clinical, and community-based recommendations Identify cases requiring referral to medical, neurological, therapeutic, or other specialized providers Maintain appropriate informed-consent, privacy, documentation, testing-security, and recordkeeping practices Comply with applicable laws, professional ethics, licensing requirements, and test-publisher qualification standards Collaborate with VITAL's administrative and assessment-support personnel while maintaining independence over all clinical decisions Required Qualifications Doctoral-level education meeting the requirements for independent psychology licensure Active, unrestricted license authorizing the independent practice of psychology and diagnostic evaluation in Mississippi Demonstrated training and experience in comprehensive evaluations of children or adolescents Competence in assessing learning disorders, ADHD, cognitive functioning, academic achievement, and related neurodevelopmental concerns Experience selecting, administering, scoring, interpreting, and integrating standardized assessment instruments Strong clinical-report writing and parent-feedback skills Ability to exercise independent professional judgment and work within established areas of competence Professional liability insurance Willingness to complete credential verification and applicable background-screening requirements Preferred Qualifications Experience evaluating dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, written-expression difficulties, and executive-functioning concerns Background in clinical, school, counseling, pediatric, or neuropsychological assessment Experience supervising or collaborating with psychometrists or other qualified assessment personnel Familiarity with educational accommodations, intervention planning, Section 504, and special-education referral processes Experience providing culturally and linguistically responsive evaluations Authorization and experience providing telepsychology or teleassessment services when clinically appropriate Interest in helping shape a high-quality and accessible assessment model during its development Service Model and Support VITAL will provide referral coordination, scheduling support, and access to an in-person assessment setting in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Testing materials, scoring arrangements, administrative responsibilities, and case workflow will be defined in the independent-contractor agreement. The psychologist will determine the clinical appropriateness of each referral and service-delivery method. Remote or hybrid services may be considered only when the psychologist is legally authorized to provide them and determines that the format is clinically and psychometrically appropriate. Compensation and Caseload Compensation will be established as a mutually agreed-upon per-evaluation or professional-service rate based on the scope of services. Applicants will be invited to provide their preferred compensation structure or professional rate. Caseload is flexible and based on referrals accepted by the psychologist. No minimum number of referrals or hours is guaranteed. This independent-contractor position does not include employee benefits.
