Job Description

Category Schools - School Psychologist Job Type Contract Step into a vital role supporting young learners at two closely situated elementary schools in the Vernon Hills area. This contract position is ideal for a School Psychologist who thrives in a diverse, student-focused environment and is interested in a meaningful leave-of-absence opportunity. The assignment covers Aspen Elementary and a neighboring early learning center, both easily accessible on foot, for approximately three months beginning in early January 2027 (with flexibility to accommodate the precise start date). You'll be a key resource for students in preschool through fifth grade, handling a variety of evaluations and collaborating closely with educational teams and families. Bilingual Spanish-speaking skills are highly valued, though not required, and both in-person and hybrid working arrangements can be considered for the right candidate.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
Valid School Psychologist credentials and licensure for Illinois Experience conducting evaluations for elementary-aged students (PreK-5) Ability to adapt to varying evaluation caseloads and manage time efficiently Strong interpersonal and communication skills for work with students, staff, and families Spanish language proficiency is highly preferred, but not mandatory Availability for a contract from January to March 2027, with some flexibility around start and end dates Willingness to provide overlap with the current school psychologist for up to two days
Primary Responsibilities:
Administer and interpret psychological and educational assessments Provide expert support for intervention planning and special education eligibility Consult with educators and parents to promote student wellbeing and academic success Deliver reports and participate in team meetings as required Serve both Aspen Elementary and the neighboring early learning center (walking distance) Make your mark supporting early learners in a collaborative school setting.
