Job Description Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the clinical manager of Forensics and in collaboration with other agency clinicians and medical providers, the psychologist is responsible for outpatient mental health and behavioral health services provided to a caseload of clients for the equivalent of eight hours per day, five days per week. Responsible for offering best-practice, trauma-informed, designated mental health services to child, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups including but not limited to forensic evaluations, psychological and neuropsychological evaluations, individual, group and family therapy.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provides client and family education, support and care in gender, spiritually, economically and culturally-responsive, trauma-informed, humble, kind and competent ways. Follows HIPAA guidelines and maintains the highest level of confidentiality and privacy at all times when dealing with client information. Conducts forensic evaluations for juveniles and adults as referred by the court system. Conducts psychological evaluations for children and adolescents. Completes neuropsychological consults for Jackson-Madison County General hospital. Provides individual, family, group and marital counseling with children, adolescents and adults with the provision of collateral counseling as needed. Maintains or exceeds productivity standards Is able to handle day to day demands effectively through good organization, setting of priorities, timely decision making and stress management. Is able to balance administrative responsibilities while maintaining an as needed clinical caseload. Relates well to other departments and staff at all levels within the department and perceived as helpful, cooperative, knowledgeable and effective. Collaborates effectively with Judges, District Attorneys and Public Defenders related to the forensic evaluation results and service recommendations for the defendants. Participates in staffing and supervision as required and displays evidence of the value of lifelong learning as related to best practices in client care. Completes and/or ensures the completion of all appropriate documentation in a timely manner with clinically appropriate assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, etc. Practices guest excellence with patients, staff and visitors. Attends all staff meetings and completes mandatory trainings Performs other related responsibilities as needed for the success of the agency
EDUCATION
Doctoral degree in psychology and at least two years' experience in the mental health field.
LICENSURE, REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION
License eligible as a Clinical Psychologist and completion of forensics' certification within the first 90 days of employment.
EXPERIENCE
Prefer proficiency in current practices and techniques of forensic, neuropsychological and psychological testing.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Skills and proficiency in the principles, concepts and basic techniques of the mental health and substance use profession. Such proficiency may be acquired through Doctoral degree in psychology.
