Teaching:
Creating a learning environment that facilitates students' acquisition of knowledge and skills in a subject.Teaching encompasses four components:
Instructional Design, Instructional Delivery, Instructional Effectiveness, and Instructional Expertise. 2.Scholarly and Creative Engagement:
Engage in scholarly and/or creative activity, which may include conference attendance and presentation, participation in professional organizations, academic coursework, scholarly research and publications, and grant activity. 3.Institutional Responsibility:
Performing assigned or presumed duties according to one's role at the college. These activities support and advance both the mission of the VCCS and the college to enhance the effective functioning of the college. These responsibilities include participate in the college's development and evaluation plan for part-time teaching faculty; participate in required department, committee, and college meetings; adhere to college and VCCS policies; perform assigned duties; and maintain a collegial working relationship with faculty, and staff. 4.Service:
Quality participation and commitment to students, college and/or community organizations, which is an expectation of one's activities as a professional educator. Activities in this domain are differentiated college representation, college citizenship, and community citizenship. Special Assignments May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor. KSA's/Required Qualifications- Minimum of a master's degree from a regionally accredited institution with 18 graduate semester hours in Psychology.
- Ability to design and implement curricula that aligns elements of student learning to the student's educational goals.
- Ability to develop and adapt teaching and learning strategies to accommodate traditional and non-traditional students with diverse backgrounds and varied academic competencies.
- Knowledge of methods to effectively teach Psychology Online.
- Ability to learn and utilize various technologies for communication, organization of data and course materials, presentations, etc.
- Ability to use formative and summative assessment measures to evaluate and enhance student learning.
- Experience with proven teaching strategies that promote student success.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, for group or one-on-one settings.
- Commitment to stay current and continually improve knowledge and understanding of the discipline. Additional Considerations
- Online teaching certification.
- Online teaching experience.
- Community college or four-year college teaching experience.
- Experience with, alternative delivery methods to include online delivery, hybrid and hyflex course options, content software, web-enhancements, etc.
- Willingness to incorporate AI into Psychology education.
- Experience with incorporating technology into education.
