Know Your Team:
UT Health Athens is a 127-bed facility, including a 24-hour ED, designated as a Level IV trauma center and Level IV stroke center; advanced diagnostic technology; 10-bed ICU; maternity unit radiation therapy center; and a stand-alone ED in Gun Barrel City. Responsibilities The Radiation Therapist Delivers radiation therapy treatments to cancer patients as prescribed bythe physician and directed by the physics department.
Perform manual calculations.
Fabricate custom shielding blocks.
Perform Q.A. checks and warm-up Linear Accelerators.
Maintain constant communication with patients and family members to lend support and provide information concerning treatment.
Responsible for supervising all phases of student clinical rotations.
Qualifications Job Requirements:
Graduate of an approved school of radiation therapy technology or a school of radiologic technology and a one year radiation therapy program.
Must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology in Radiation Therapy and licensed by the State of Texas.
