Position Summary:
The Radiology Technologist (RT) or Limited Radiology Technologist (LRT) will perform a variety of technical tasks involved in operating radiographic equipment and making radiographs of designated portions of the body.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a 24-month AMA approved School of Radiology Technology required. (RT) Completion an approved program of Limited Radiologic Technologist required. (LRT) Experience Minimum of two years' experience as a diagnostic radiology technologist preferred. Knowledge of anatomy and radiographic exposure required. Proficiency in radiation protection practices required. Licensure/Certification/Registration Registered as a Radiologic Technologist through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART) required. (RT) Certification with the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA) required. (RT) Temporary or Permanent license through the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA) required. (LRT) Registered or registry-eligible for Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) required. (LRT) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required. Duties & Responsibilities (RT & LRT): Greet all patients and their accompanying family members when applicable and provide exemplary customer service. Responsible for operating x-ray equipment and adjusting equipment for proper radiographic exposure techniques. Explain x-ray procedures to patients. Position patients for each anatomical view. Accurately process images for optimal quality and match with appropriate paperwork for interpretation. Demonstrate acceptable film quality standards by critiquing positioning, technical factors, and collimation. Functions as part of the medical office team and is willing to step in and complete any front and back office assignments within the scope of education/certification/training. Effectively utilize strong organizational skills. Consistently display effective verbal communication skills. Proficient understanding and use of technology/PC skills required. Exercise independent judgment in emergency situations.
LRT specific duties:
The LRT will assist with administrative functions such as scheduling patient's appointments, adjust scheduling for emergency cases, obtaining insurance verification assisting patients to exam rooms, preparing patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature.
