Role Overview:
Under general supervision the AHD X-R Aide assists X-Ray Technologists and other members of the health care team in the Radiology Department. Duties include, but are not limited to stocking and rotating supplies, transporting patients, maintaining film files/diagnostic reports and assisting at Reception Desk. Performs related duties as required.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
NOTE:
The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification, however, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification. Communicates and cooperates with all personnel in the department and in the Hospital; rotates assignments and shifts within the department as required. Monitors and encourages aide competence through observation and spot correction as needed; leading by example with good customer service and leadership skills. Inspires confidence from patients, visitors, families and colleagues by always performing, communicating and dressing in a professional manner. Follows all Hospital and Departmental Policy and Procedures including Universal Precautions, HIPPPA and Safety. Assumes responsibility for knowing and following guidelines in the Environmental Health and Safety Binder as well as the Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). When responsible for transporting a patient
  • always signs the patient in and out from their assigned floor; always assesses patient's ability to travel; ensures patient is properly attired and covered for transport and always obtains in-patient chart to accompany patient to imaging. Provides immobilization devises as required. Monitors patient's condition
  • immediately reporting any unusual changes in patient condition to nurse or physician. Follows "timeout" procedure to identify patient and diagnosis
  • ensuring proper exam is completed.
Follows prescribed techniques for film processing and making duplicate images. Performs a variety of quality control procedures to include cleaning of cassettes, viewing monitors and light boxes for he radiologist. Immediately reports all equipment failures or unsafe conditions to manager, supervisor and/or BioMedical Engineering and removes faulty equipment from service. Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination; maintains orderliness and cleanliness; secures and returns supplies. Understands and practices proper Radiation Safety techniques during radiographic exams. Cleans and disinfects radiographic room(s) and transport equipment after each use. Reviews completed requests for CD/DVD files and burns images as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High School Degree or equivalent.
Minimum Experience:
Prior experience in a hospital or acute care setting is preferred, but not required.
Required Licenses/Certifications:
BLS

31 The pay range for this position reflects the base pay scale for the role at Alameda Health System. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and the operational needs of the organization.
