Travel CT Technologist in
New London, CT Weekly Gross Pay:
Based on 40 hours/week
Shift:
Night, 4×10-Hour — 6:00 PM-6:30

Minimum 2 years of CT Technologist experience Minimum 1.5 years of hospital experience required per job description ARRT CT certification required ARRT R certification required BLS certification required Connecticut CT license required; candidates may submit while license is pending Rhode Island CT license required due to floating requirements GE and Siemens CT equipment experience required Epic charting experience required Experience with image display and post-processing Experience with 3D rendering, MPR, and ROI preferred Experience with abdomen, pelvis, chest, head/neck, spine, musculoskeletal, and CTA studies Coronary CTA experience preferred Experience with starting peripheral IVs and venipuncture preferred Level I and Level II Trauma experience preferred Teaching hospital experience preferred Community hospital experience preferred Travel experience is not required First-time travelers may be considered Job Description The CT Technologist performs high-quality computed tomography examinations for adolescent, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. The technologist operates CT equipment, prepares and positions patients, administers contrast when required, follows radiation safety protocols, and works closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals. Duties and Responsibilities The CT Technologist is expected to perform safe and accurate CT imaging procedures according to physician orders and established protocols. Specific duties may include but are not limited to: Perform CT examinations of the abdomen, pelvis, chest, head/neck, spine, and musculoskeletal system. Perform CT angiography (CTA), including vascular chest and coronary CTA studies. Perform CT examinations with and without contrast as required. Perform 3D rendering, multiplanar reconstruction (MPR), and region-of-interest (ROI) measurements. Prepare and administer contrast media according to established protocols. Start peripheral IVs and perform venipuncture as required. Properly position patients and provide appropriate instructions throughout examinations. Perform specialized CT procedures including biopsies, aspirations, drainage, CT arthrography, and coronary CTA. Support emergency, trauma, and stroke-center imaging needs. Perform imaging for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Operate GE and Siemens CT equipment, including the GE Optima CT660. Utilize Epic for patient charting and documentation. Follow radiation safety procedures and maintain appropriate radiation protection measures. Follow infection-control, isolation, and PPE protocols. Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Maintain accurate patient records and documentation. Recognize and report equipment issues or abnormalities to the appropriate personnel. Follow all department, hospital, and client facility policies and procedures. Maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Working Conditions The CT Technologist works in a fast-paced short-term acute-care hospital environment, providing diagnostic imaging services to adolescent, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. The position supports emergency and trauma services and may involve working with high-acuity patients, including stroke and trauma cases. The technologist may be exposed to ionizing radiation, infectious or communicable diseases, blood and bodily fluids, and other healthcare-related environmental conditions. The technologist must be able to work effectively during overnight shifts, safely position and transfer patients, operate advanced CT equipment, maintain attention to detail, and communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals. Additional Requirements Night shift, 4×10 hours — approximately 6:00 PM-6:30 AM. Call and weekend coverage may be required as needed for the department. No block scheduling. Floating is required between Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in Connecticut and Westerly Hospital in Rhode Island. Candidate must obtain both Connecticut and Rhode Island licenses due to the floating requirement. Candidate may start with whichever state license is issued first while the other is pending. Connecticut CT license processing takes approximately 15-21 business days . Candidate must apply for the CT license prior to submission. Local candidates are not accepted ; candidates within 75 miles of the hospital are considered local. One reference is required at submission. RTO must be provided at the time of submission. Up to 7 days of RTO may be auto-approved for auto offers. Any vacation plans between signing and the start date must be disclosed at submission. Return staff must be separated from the facility for at least 2 years before returning as a traveler.
COVID-19
vaccination is not required. Flu vaccination is required with no exemptions. Modules are non-billable and completed before start and annually. Allied modules are approximately 1 hour. Free parking is available. The facility is part of the Yale New Haven Health System .
