POSITION SUMMARY
The Radiologic Technologist/CT Technologist operates radiographic and computed tomography equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images in accordance with physician orders, radiologist direction, and established department protocols. This position explains procedures to patients to promote understanding, reduce anxiety, and support cooperation; monitors accessory equipment; and assists physicians with fluoroscopic and special radiographic procedures. The technologist demonstrates competency in assigned primary work areas, including orthopedic, pediatric, trauma, outpatient, and inpatient diagnostic radiology, including C-arm use. The role also supports designated radiology initiatives as a super user and maintains competency in more than one primary work area.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and needs of patients served by the department. Maintains performance in compliance with state and federal laws and in accordance with high standards of business and professional ethics. Follows Boone County Hospital Standards of Behavior, confidentiality requirements, EMTALA guidelines, and applicable hospital and department policies and procedures. Utilizes radiographic and computed tomography equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images in accordance with radiologist protocols and physician orders. Assists radiologists and physicians during procedures as needed. Operates imaging equipment within appropriate mechanical settings to minimize biological effects and support safe, effective patient care. Applies ALARA principles to minimize radiation exposure to patients, staff, and self, and follows established quality control practices. Accurately and efficiently uses department and hospital computer systems. Communicates clearly, professionally, and effectively with patients, families, peers, providers, leadership, and other departments. Functions independently with minimal direct supervision while demonstrating sound judgment and accountability. Demonstrates empathy, tact, and respect in all interactions. Works effectively both independently and as a collaborative team member to meet departmental needs. Completes bone density training and demonstrates proficiency within the required timeframe established by the department. Completes all required annual education and mandatory training. Performs additional duties, special functions, and projects as assigned.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Graduation from a two-year program at an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology. Maintains a valid, current State of Iowa Permit to Practice and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification. Maintains current BCLS certification as required. Completes Dependent Adult Abuse Training and Mandatory Reporter Training for Child Abuse as required. Demonstrates the ability to resolve practical problems and respond effectively in situations with limited standardization. Interprets instructions provided in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

X Typical Working Conditions:
Employees are subject to the risks inherent in a critical access hospital environment, including exposure to indoor environmental conditions, chemicals, infectious and contagious diseases, and other potentially unpleasant elements. This role involves patient contact in a wide range of circumstances, including emergency or crisis situations. The work environment may include elevated stress levels due to interruptions, high volume, urgent issues, and interaction with a variety of individuals and departments. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and potential radiation exposure. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, blood or bodily fluids, outdoor weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Vision must be correctable to support viewing computer screens and reading printed materials. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Hearing must be within normal range to support telephone communication and other work-related conversations.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
