Job Description

Position Summary Performs routine and the more complex imaging examinations in Diagnostic Radiology on a scheduled and emergency basis following departmental QC/Exam Data Integrity Workflow Expectations. Actively participates in training of clinical staff. Acts as a mentor to less experienced staff. Participates in operational duties assigned by and under the direction of the manager. Key Responsibilities Examinations/Procedures Performs the more complex imaging examinations while providing a safe environment for patients. Reviews and evaluates requisitions for Diagnostic imaging procedures, abstracting data from patient charts and determining appropriateness of procedure prescribed given diagnosis and clinical signs for routine examinations. Identify patients according to Hospital Policy with 2 identifiers. Selects appropriate equipment and technical factors to identify pathologic and normal anatomy. Assesses patients' and parents' physical and emotional status and ability to respond to instructions and develop a care plan for that patients' specific needs. Explain the examination and is able to answer questions from patient and parents regarding the exam and Radiation exposure, practices ALARA. Follows Departmental QC/Data Integrity Workflow. Practices High Reliability Training Patient/Family Relations Responds to the uniqueness of the patient, creating a supportive environment for the patient and the family Equipment Identifies and reports equipment malfunctions through the INeedit application. Operations Assists in organizing and maintaining daily operations. Performs additional tasks as assigned by the Modality Manager, Chief Technologist or Assistant Chief Technologist i.e., such as ordering supplies, QA/QC projects, lead inventory, etc. Leadership Helps with new departmental /hospital initiatives. Promotes positive morale, teamwork, and willingness to make a significant contribution. Training Trains fellows, residents, students and staff in imaging procedures and techniques. Acts as a mentor to less experienced staff General Participates in departmental and hospital meetings. Completes all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner. Complies with ETU. Complies with HIPAA regulations. Practices the 6 core values of the Hospital; excellence, innovation, communication, respect, teamwork and accountability Professional Development Furthers professional education and maintains knowledge of current regulations and standards, policies and procedures. Maintains up-to-date licensure/certification/registration in departmental file.
Minimum Qualifications Education:
Associates degree in Allied Health, Bachelors preferred
Experience:
3 years of experience in
Diagnostic Radiology Licensure/ Certifications:
Current MA Radiologic Technologist Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) BLS Certification
