Job Description

The CAT/CT Scan Technologist produces computerized tomographic scanner radiographs of specific areas as ordered by a physician. These cross-sectional images provide detailed information about soft tissues, blood vessels, and bones, which are essential for accurate diagnostics. The CAT/CT Scan Technologist obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns. The CAT/CT Technologist also performs a variety of specialized tasks involved in the performance of CT scans.
  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • + Performs complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of CT scanners and related equipment in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures + Positions patients for CT scans using immobilization and protective equipment as necessary + Appropriately sets the controls of the relate equipment; monitors equipment and patient; makes adjustments as necessary + Assists radiologist with imaging procedures, starting IV's, and injecting contrast, if applicable + May dispense oral contrast to patients for CT scans + Assists radiologist with interventional CT procedures + Evaluates CT scans for technical quality, collate processed images in sequence of exposure and appropriately label + May be responsible for scheduling patients for procedures and assisting with some clerical functions + Charges procedures and supplies used to the patient record appropriately + Loads and operates power injections for contrast media administration + Maintains accurate patient records for all procedures performed; maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to all HIPAA standards + Adheres to all Amergis and worksite rules, policies and procedures + Other duties as assigned •
Minimum Requirements:
  • + High School Diploma or equivalent + One (1) year of experience as a CAT/CT Technologist preferred.
+ Appropriate valid state licensure in diagnostic imaging + A.R.R.T. (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) Certification, if required by state regulations or contract specifications + Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice + Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable + Current CPR if applicable + TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable + Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation) + Must meet all federal, state and local requirements + Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site + Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements + Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required + Computer proficiency required + Must be at least 18 years of age
