Job Description

MEDSTAR HEALTH
is seeking a Radiology Technologist to provide high-quality diagnostic imaging services in our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this patient-first role, you will perform radiographic exams, ensure accurate imaging protocols, and support physicians in diagnosing and treating diverse patient populations. You'll operate and maintain imaging equipment, observe strict radiation safety and infection control standards, and document procedures in the electronic medical record. Responsibilities Perform routine and specialized diagnostic radiographic examinations according to physician orders and department protocols Position patients safely and accurately to obtain optimal images while maintaining patient comfort and dignity Operate and troubleshoot radiographic and related imaging equipment, ensuring proper function and quality control Adhere to radiation safety standards, ALARA principles, and infection control policies at all times Verify patient identity, review histories, and obtain necessary consents prior to imaging procedures Accurately document procedures and upload images within the electronic medical record and PACS systems Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and other clinicians to support timely diagnosis and treatment Educate patients and families on imaging procedures and address questions or concerns Maintain examination rooms, supplies, and equipment in a clean, organized, and ready state Participate in continuing education, competencies, and quality improvement initiatives within the department Required Skills Diagnostic radiography (X-ray) Patient positioning and body mechanics Radiation safety and ALARA principles Operation of digital radiography (DR/CR) systems PACS and RIS/EMR documentation Anatomy and radiographic positioning knowledge Infection control and standard precautions Contrast administration support and monitoring Basic life support (BLS) skills Quality control and image quality assessment
