This role requires independent judgment, initiative, and the ability to consider patient age and special characteristics to ensure safe, high-quality care. The technologist contributes to departmental growth through policy development, QA activities, and continuing education. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served. Required Qualifications Associate degree from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology Minimum of three months of clinical and on-the-job training Registry eligible or registered R.T. (MR) and/or ARMRIT Registry must be obtained within six months of hire BLS certification required within six months of hire Ability to operate basic computer programs used for departmental record keeping Strong interpersonal skills, including communication, problem solving, and assertiveness Customer service orientation Ability to work independently, demonstrate leadership, and take initiative Positive, professional attitude Physical and Mental Requirements High levels of mental and visual concentration Frequent standing and walking Regular lifting of up to 20 pounds and assisting with heavier patient-related tasks Occasional straining or fatiguing positions Key Responsibilities Escort patients to exam areas, review patient information, and explain procedures Provide MRI services according to policy, procedure, and patient needs Complete work in a timely and efficient manner Clean, maintain, and monitor equipment; troubleshoot per manufacturer guidelines Report equipment issues to supervisor or manufacturer service department Provide first aid and assist during adverse reactions or emergencies Maintain sterile technique and prevent cross-contamination Produce high-quality MRI procedures for radiologist interpretation Maintain communication with supervisor regarding unusual situations Maintain appropriate supply levels Provide on-the-job training for students, assistants, and newly hired technologists Demonstrate excellent customer service, including phone interactions Practice MRI-specific safety standards
