Job Description

Mercy is seeking a Mammography Technologist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will perform high-quality digital mammography and diagnostic breast imaging, ensuring patient comfort, safety, and accurate positioning. You'll collaborate closely with radiologists and healthcare staff, follow ALARA and MQSA standards, and maintain imaging equipment and quality control logs. Responsibilities Perform screening and diagnostic mammography exams following MQSA and ACR guidelines Ensure accurate patient positioning, image quality, and radiation safety (ALARA) Verify patient identity, obtain relevant history, and explain procedures to reduce anxiety Collaborate with radiologists and healthcare team on imaging protocols and follow-up Maintain and operate mammography and related imaging equipment safely and effectively Complete daily quality control tests and document results per regulatory standards Adhere to infection control, safety, and privacy (HIPAA) policies Assist with breast imaging procedures such as spot compression and magnification views Document exams in the RIS/PACS and electronic health record accurately and promptly Participate in continuing education, competency training, and accreditation activities Required Skills Digital mammography Patient positioning for breast imaging Radiation safety and ALARA principles Knowledge of MQSA and ACR standards Use of
PACS/RIS
systems Breast anatomy and pathology basics Image quality assessment and troubleshooting Infection control procedures Electronic health records documentation Communication with anxious or high risk patients
