Job Description

Asheville Ortho - Mission Main, part of Mission Health's physician network, seeks a Radiology Technician to support our orthopedic and musculoskeletal services in Asheville, NC. In this role, you will perform high-quality diagnostic imaging for surgical and non-surgical patients, ensuring accurate positioning, radiation safety, and compassionate care. You will collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons, APPs, and rehab teams, using advanced imaging technologies within a physician-led, patient-centered culture focused on excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement across a leading regional health system. Responsibilities Perform high-quality diagnostic radiologic exams for orthopedic patients per provider orders Position patients safely and accurately using proper immobilization and radiation protection techniques Operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment Verify patient identification, obtain history, and explain procedures to ensure comfort and cooperation Adhere to ALARA principles, infection control, and all regulatory and safety standards Review images for diagnostic quality and transmit studies via PACS for physician interpretation Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons, providers, and clinical staff to coordinate patient flow Maintain accurate documentation, exam logs, and electronic health record entries Participate in quality improvement, equipment maintenance checks, and departmental protocols Support training and orientation of new staff or students as requested Required Skills Radiographic imaging Orthopedic radiography positioning Fluoroscopy operation Radiation safety and ALARAPACS and RIS/EHR systems Patient positioning and immobilization Infection control and sterile technique Contrast administration support Anatomy and radiographic pathology recognition Regulatory compliance (JCAHO, state)
