Job Description
Job Summary Performs advanced Computed Tomography (CT) imaging procedures to support accurate diagnosis and patient care across emergency, inpatient, outpatient, trauma, stroke, and cardiac services. Collaborates closely with Radiologists, physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality imaging while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and adherence to radiation safety standards. Job Responsibilities Operates advanced CT imaging equipment to perform diagnostic and interventional imaging procedures according to departmental protocols and physician orders. Assists Radiologists during specialized CT-guided procedures including biopsies, drain placements, aspirations, joint injections, and pre-surgical localization procedures. Performs high-acuity imaging procedures such as CTA studies, stroke protocols, trauma imaging, cardiac CT, gated studies, perfusion imaging, and portable CT examinations. Reviews patient history, laboratory values, medications, allergies, and contraindications prior to exams to ensure patient safety and exam appropriateness. Administers oral, rectal, and intravenous contrast agents in accordance with established protocols and safety guidelines. Establishes and maintains IV access and monitors patients for adverse reactions during and after contrast administration. Demonstrates advanced knowledge of CT anatomy, pathology, scan optimization, image reconstruction, and post-processing techniques including multi-planar and 3D reconstruction. Evaluates image quality and modifies scan parameters to minimize radiation exposure while maintaining diagnostic image standards. Recognizes abnormal findings and communicates urgent or critical results to Radiologists and care teams promptly. Coordinates care for patients requiring sedation or anesthesia and supports pediatric and adult imaging workflows. Ensures compliance with infection control, patient identification, documentation, and safety procedures. Provides guidance, mentoring, and training to junior CT Technologists and students on advanced imaging procedures and protocols. Participates in quality assurance initiatives, equipment checks, continuing education, and departmental improvement activities. Maintains accurate patient records, exam documentation, and imaging data within PACS and electronic medical record systems. Required Skills & Experience Minimum three (3) years of experience as a CT Technologist in a hospital or diagnostic imaging environment. Strong knowledge of CT imaging protocols, anatomy, pathology, and radiation safety practices. Experience performing advanced CT procedures including trauma, stroke, CTA, and cardiac imaging. Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced emergency and critical care settings. Excellent patient care, communication, and teamwork skills. Proficiency in image post-processing, contrast administration, and CT equipment troubleshooting. Preferred Skills & Experience Experience with cardiac CT, CT perfusion, and interventional CT procedures. Prior experience in Level I Trauma or tertiary care hospital settings. Leadership or preceptor experience training junior staff or students.
Education Required Education:
Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology or Radiological Science program.Preferred Education:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Sciences or related healthcare field.Certifications & Licensure Required:
Registered Radiologic Technologist through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or registry eligible. Advanced certification in Computed Tomography (CT). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers. Must maintain all registry and continuing education requirements.Preferred:
