POSITION SUMMARY
The Interventional Radiology Technologist performs diagnostic testing according to established departmental procedures, ensuring the delivery of quality patient care. The Interventional Radiology Technologist performs diagnostic testing as directed by the physician at a competent technical level not requiring constant supervision. This position operates diagnostic equipment, including peripheral equipment, in a safe and efficient manner to obtain optimal test results. The Interventional Radiology Technologist manages the patient during the diagnostic procedure to meet patient care standards. This position ensures supplies are maintained and reports problems with equipment to the appropriate staff member. This position actively participates in and supports student clinical education activities where applicable. This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.
QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION
Graduate of an accredited radiological technologist school required.
LICENSE:
Licensed by the State of New Jersey, Department of Environmental Protection and ARRT(R) required upon hire or transfer.
EXPERIENCE
Candidates must possess ability to multitask, with attention to fine detail in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 1 year from date of hire. NJDEP State License expires every two years and must be renewed biennially to work. ARRT expires on incumbent's date of birth and must be renewed annually to work.
SPECIALITY EXPERIENCE CERTIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS
Interventional Radiology Graduate of an accredited radiological technologist school required. 1 yr. diagnostic testing experience preferred. American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers required upon hire or transfer. Licensed by the State of NJ, Department of Environmental Protection required upon hire or transfer. Registered as American Registry of Radiology Technologist required upon hire or transfer. ACLS required within 3 months from date of hire or transfer Advanced certification from ARRT preferred within 18 months of passing initial registry or date of hire.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
Demonstrates the ability to perform the department specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, potential injury, and hazardous substances, including electromagnetic radiation. Position requires the ability to stand a majority of the time; and require the ability to sit in front of a CRT monitor much of the time. Position requires extensive pushing, pulling and lifting of patients and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. The department specific Assessment and Evaluation Tool lists the essential functions of this position.
UNIT POPULATION SERVED
Core competencies will be assessed primarily on the following patient population(s) serviced: Interventional Radiology Stents/declot vascular, neuro, renal conditions and diseases including but not limited to PVD, renal, oncology, etc.

This position reports to the Interventional Radiology Supervisor.
