Position Summary The Radiology Technologist (PET/CT) plays a key role in supporting our Nuclear Medicine team. This position is responsible for assisting the Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMT) with PET/CT stress studies, including patient preparation, scan operation, documentation, and post-procedure care. The technologist will be responsible for initiating the CT portion of the PET/CT studies and assisting throughout the imaging process to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality diagnostic results. Additional duties may be assigned based on departmental needs. Essential Responsibilities Prepare the injection room and PET/CT suite each day. Review and confirm orders prior to each procedure. Escort patients from the waiting area; ensure restroom use as needed. Verify patient identity, dietary/medication compliance, and ability to complete the study. Coordinate with nursing staff to assess patient condition (lung sounds, vitals, etc.). Explain procedures clearly and obtain patient consent. Insert and maintain IV access for radiopharmaceutical injection. Position patients and assist with setup in the PET/CT suite. Prepare patient's chest, apply electrodes, and connect to the stress monitor and gating system. Take and document blood pressure and pulse oximetry readings. Assist the NMT with patient positioning and scanning procedures. Operate the CT portion of both resting and stress phases of PET/CT studies. Enter and verify patient information in the stress computer and digital record management system (DRM). Complete billing for PET/CT studies accurately and promptly. Notify nursing staff when it is time to begin patient stress testing. Complete stress worksheets and documentation throughout the procedure. Assist with patient recovery, disconnecting monitoring equipment and removing IVs. Sanitize equipment and ensure proper infection control protocols are followed. Restock, organize, and maintain all imaging and patient care areas. Print daily schedules, consents, worksheets, and review prior studies. Maintain patient statistics and cath correlation logs. Order, receive, and store supplies for the PET/CT stress lab. Support housekeeping and OSHA cleaning responsibilities as assigned. Perform other duties as directed by the Medical and Technical Director. Required Education & Experience ARRT(R) certification
- must be current and maintained. New Jersey Radiologic Technologist License
- must be current and maintained. BLS Certification
- must be current and maintained.
Minimum 3-5 years of clinical radiology experience required. Minimum 1 year of clinical nuclear cardiology experience preferred. Additional Technical Requirements Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and internet-based applications. Strong IV placement and patient care skills. Excellent attention to detail, organization, and teamwork. Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality, and professionalism.
