Comprehensive Benefits Package (Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance) Job Summary The CT Technologist operates Computed Tomography (CT) equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images while prioritizing patient safety, comfort, and established protocols. In this role, you will prepare and position patients, perform quality control, maintain equipment, and collaborate closely with radiologists and acute care team members to deliver accurate, timely diagnostic results.
Operate CT equipment and image processing systems to produce high-quality diagnostic images compliant with departmental standards and protocols. Perform regular quality control (QC) checks, report malfunctions promptly, and maintain a clean, fully stocked work area.
Patient Care & Safety:
Prepare, position, and immobilize patients safely (utilizing safety lifts or assistance as needed). Verify physician orders, ensure accurate patient identification, screen for contraindications, and clearly explain procedures to alleviate patient anxiety.
Contrast Administration & Testing:
Administer contrast media per physician orders and safety protocols. Perform point-of-care creatinine testing, calculate GFR for contrast studies, document results, and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
Clinical Collaboration:
Work alongside radiologists and healthcare team members to provide timely, patient-centered care. Review images for technical accuracy, correlate patient clinical history with imaging studies, and present completed studies to the radiologist.
Interventional Procedures & Emergency Response:
Assist with interventional CT procedures (e.g., biopsies, drain placements), including sterile field setup. Respond to emergency situations (such as contrast reactions or urgent imaging) following facility protocols.
Compliance & Professional Standards:
Adhere strictly to radiation safety guidelines, infection control protocols, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements. Maintain regular and reliable attendance and comply with all facility policies and standards. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements Experience :
Required :
1-2 years of clinical experience acquired through an accredited radiologic sciences program.
Preferred :
2-4 years of experience as a CT Technologist in an acute care hospital setting.
Licenses & Certifications:
State Licensure:
Licensed Radiologic Technologist (as applicable by New Mexico state guidelines)•
Required CT Certification:
Computed Tomography (CT) certification or eligibility to obtain within six (6) months of hire•Required
BLS/BCLS
Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification within 90 days of hire•Required
ARRT / ARDMS
ARRT (R) or ARDMS credential•
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Proficient in CT equipment operation, image processing, and radiologic diagnostic techniques. Solid knowledge of aseptic, surgical, and radiation safety protocols. Ability to handle patient transfers using safety lifts or assistance. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively support patients, families, and interdisciplinary care teams. Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and accurate clinical documentation. Ability to prioritize tasks and deliver accurate results under minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
