Limited Scope X-Ray Technician / Medical AssistantJob Overview We are seeking a dependable and compassionate Limited Scope X-Ray Technician/Medical Assistant to join our urgent care team. This dual-role position performs limited-scope diagnostic X-rays, EKGs, and routine Medical Assistant duties while supporting providers in delivering efficient, high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, communicates effectively with patients and coworkers, and is available for rotating weekday and weekend shifts.

8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., seven days a week

Full-time/Part-time/PRN ResponsibilitiesLimited Scope X-Ray Duties Perform diagnostic X-ray examinations permitted by state regulations, facility policy, and the technician's license or certification. Verify provider orders and confirm patient identity before performing imaging procedures. Explain procedures to patients and position them appropriately to obtain quality diagnostic images. Follow radiation-safety standards, including appropriate shielding, exposure control, and pregnancy-screening procedures. Review images for positioning and technical quality before submitting them to the provider or radiology service. Document imaging procedures accurately and maintain required exposure and quality-control records. Transmit images to the appropriate provider or radiology service. Maintain X-ray equipment and promptly report equipment problems. Follow infection-prevention, equipment-cleaning, and workplace-safety procedures. Perform only those examinations authorized under the employee's limited-scope credential. Medical Assistant Duties Room patients and obtain medical histories, medication lists, allergies, vital signs, and chief complaints. Assist providers with examinations, treatments, and minor office procedures. Perform 12-lead EKGs as ordered, verify tracing quality, and promptly provide results to the treating provider for interpretation. Prepare patients for EKGs by explaining the procedure, ensuring privacy, and positioning electrodes correctly. Promptly report poor-quality EKG tracings, equipment problems, or urgent clinical concerns to the provider. This position does not independently interpret or diagnose EKG findings. Perform point-of-care testing and collect, label, and prepare specimens for processing. Administer medications or immunizations when permitted by applicable law, credentials, training, and facility policy. Assist with wound care, basic dressings, splinting, and other routine urgent care procedures as directed. Prepare examination rooms and maintain adequate clinical supplies. Clean and disinfect examination rooms, EKG equipment, X-ray equipment, and other clinical equipment between patients. Document patient information accurately in the electronic health record. Provide follow-up and discharge instructions as directed by the treating provider. Support efficient patient flow and collaborate with providers, clinical staff, and front-office team members. Respond to patients with professionalism, discretion, empathy, and compassion. Perform additional duties within the employee's training and authorized scope of practice. Required Qualifications Current Limited Scope X-Ray Technician license, permit, or certification required by the state in which the urgent care operates. Medical Assistant training, certification, or documented clinical experience appropriate to applicable state requirements. Current Basic Life Support certification or ability to obtain certification within the required period after hire. Knowledge of radiation protection, patient positioning, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection-control practices. Ability to perform accurate 12-lead EKGs. Ability to use electronic health records and routine clinical equipment. Strong communication, organizational, and customer-service skills. Ability to remain calm, accurate, and courteous in a fast-paced clinical environment. Ability to work rotating weekday, weekend, and holiday shifts during the urgent care's operating hours. Preferred Qualifications At least one year of experience in urgent care, primary care, occupational medicine, or another outpatient clinical setting. National Medical Assistant certification. Experience using digital radiography equipment and image-transmission systems. Experience performing EKGs and obtaining accurate, artifact-free tracings. Experience with point-of-care testing, specimen collection, splinting, wound care, medication administration, and assisting with minor procedures. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to assist with positioning and transferring patients safely. Ability to lift or move up to 25-50 pounds, with assistance when appropriate. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and safely operate X-ray and clinical equipment.
