The technologist will primarily perform cardiac CT examinations while also supporting routine CT, stroke, emergency, and Interventional Radiology procedures. The position requires strong Siemens CT experience and the ability to work independently in a high-volume cardiac and acute-care imaging environment. Duties and Responsibilities The CT Technologist is expected to perform safe and accurate CT imaging procedures according to physician orders and established protocols. Specific duties may include but are not limited to: Perform diagnostic CT examinations for adult and geriatric patients. Perform a high volume of cardiac CT examinations, with approximately 75% of the daily caseload being cardiac studies . Perform routine CT examinations of the abdomen, pelvis, chest, head/neck, spine, and musculoskeletal system. Perform coronary CTA and other vascular CTA studies. Perform brain perfusion and stroke-related CT imaging. Perform CT examinations with and without contrast as required. Perform 3D rendering, multiplanar reconstruction (MPR), and region-of-interest (ROI) measurements. Prepare and administer contrast media according to established protocols. Start peripheral IVs and perform venipuncture as required. Assist with specialized procedures including biopsies, drainages, vascular studies, and other IR procedures. Support emergency, trauma, ICU, and acute-care imaging needs. Operate Siemens CT equipment, including Siemens Naeotom Alpha Photon Counting and Siemens X.Cite systems. Utilize Epic and PACS for imaging documentation and image management. Follow radiation safety procedures and maintain appropriate radiation protection measures. Maintain and wear the required radiation badge. Follow infection-control, isolation, and PPE protocols. Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Maintain accurate patient records and documentation. Recognize and report equipment issues or abnormalities to the appropriate personnel. Attend required staff meetings. Follow all department, hospital, and client facility policies and procedures. Working Conditions The CT Technologist works in a fast-paced Magnet, Teaching, and Level I Trauma hospital environment. The department is part of a Heart and Vascular Hospital and handles a high-volume CT workload of approximately 60 exams per day , with cardiac examinations making up approximately 75% of the caseload. The position primarily serves adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and may involve emergency, trauma, stroke, ICU, cardiac, and Interventional Radiology cases. The technologist may be exposed to ionizing radiation, infectious or communicable diseases, blood and bodily fluids, and other healthcare-related environmental conditions. Strict adherence to radiation safety, infection control, and PPE protocols is required. The role requires the ability to work independently during overnight shifts, safely position and transfer patients, operate advanced CT equipment, manage a high-volume workload, and communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.

Additional Requirements Night shift:

3×12 hours, Friday-Sunday, 7:00 PM-7:30 AM. No on-call requirement. Holiday rotation is required. Floating within scope is required as needed. Travelers may float between buildings and may also be required to float to Interventional Radiology . Travelers are expected to attend staff meetings. Radiation badge must be provided by the agency; MUSC does not provide radiation badges to travelers. South Carolina license must be active/in hand before starting. Pending SC license may be considered at submission, but the traveler cannot start until the license is active. Local candidates within 60 miles may be considered case-by-case at 10% below the posted bill rate. RTO must be included at the time of submission. RTO submitted after submission will not be accepted. One MUSC unit/campus may be submitted at a time. Previous permanent/PRN MUSC staff must be separated from the MUSC system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler. Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks .

vaccination is not required. Flu vaccination is required; medical/religious exemptions are allowed. Approximately 40 hours of orientation are provided; modules are non-billable and average approximately 4 hours. Facility has approximately 865 staffed beds . Free parking is not provided; nights and weekends require a one-time $20 parking pass .
