Job Description

Position Summary:
Performs diagnostic DEXA (Dual Energy x-ray absorption) scans. DEXA is the preferred method for measuring bone mineral density (BMD). Maintains supplies and equipment, documents procedures, researches charts for proper coding and patient scheduling, maintains credentials and continuing education, performs general related office duties, follows DHEC regulations and Radiation Safety Officer requirements. Minimum Qualifications Completion of an approved AMA program (or equivalent) with credentials in good standing. Must be currently certified by the SCRQSA as a Radiographer, Therapist, or Nuclear Medicine Technologist or any level of Limited Certification by the SCRQSA requires a Bone Density Operator Certificate.

CPR required.
Job Specific Functions:
Follows DHEC regulation. Follows RSO requirements. Operates, maintains, calibrates and schedules PM on Hologic Scanner. Maintains efficient patient flow and manages schedule. Perform DEXA scans. Instructs and informs patients on exam positions and protocols. Manages all necessary paperwork. Ensures that there is an adequate supply of materials available. Orders, receives, inspects, and stores equipment, merchandise, commodities, materials, and/or supplies. Follows HIPPA requirements. Assist patients and staff as needed. Ensures equipment, supplies, and work areas are maintained and sanitized in compliance with health standards. Follows OSHA requirements. Attends monthly staff meetings as required. Other duties as assigned.
SCIM Core Functions:
Maintain positive working relationships and demonstrate exceptional customer service skills. Work cooperatively, address conflict and communicate effectively with all providers, team members, patients and their families as appropriate. Perform all duties in accordance with the highest professional standards and SCIM policies and procedures. Practice good stewardship of SCIM resources. Demonstrate initiative and accountability in all assigned tasks. Effectively use electronic, verbal, nonverbal, written and interpersonal communication skills in a clear and concise manner to ensure appropriate understanding and response.
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Knowledgeable with an Electronic Medical Record Database (EPIC) , Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook and scanners. Operate applicable safety and specialized equipment. Assemble, sort, and/or distribute documents, supplies, and/or materials/items. Maintain inventory; track receipt, sending and delivery of materials. Ability to operate a multi-line telephone system and answer the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner. Must be organized and detail-oriented. Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees and the public. Must be able to remain optimistic and adapt to varying demands in a stressful environment. Knowledge of OSHA regulations and medical terminology.
