Job Description

Intermountain Health is seeking an MRI Technologist to perform high-quality MRI exams in a patient-centered, team-based environment. You will operate advanced MRI equipment, follow physician orders and safety protocols, screen patients for contraindications, start IVs and administer contrast, and ensure accurate imaging for diagnosis and treatment. The role includes collaborating with radiologists and care teams, educating patients and families, maintaining equipment and documentation, and supporting continuous improvement in a mission-driven, innovative healthcare system. Responsibilities Perform routine and advanced MRI examinations per physician orders and protocols Operate and troubleshoot MRI equipment ensuring image quality and patient safety Screen patients for MRI contraindications and conduct safety checks Start IVs and administer contrast agents per protocol and policy Position patients and use immobilization devices to obtain optimal images Educate and prepare patients and families about MRI procedures and expectations Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and care teams to coordinate imaging care Maintain accurate documentation, imaging records, and exam workflows in RIS/PACSAdhere to infection prevention, radiation safety, and MRI safety standards Participate in quality improvement, continuing education, and equipment QA Required Skills MRI scanning techniques (neuro, musculoskeletal, body, vascular) Operation of MRI scanners and coils MRI safety and screening protocols Patient positioning and immobilization IV insertion and contrast administration Use of PACS/RIS and EMR systems Cross-sectional anatomy and pathology recognition Radiation physics and MR physics fundamentals Infection control and patient safety procedures Basic equipment troubleshooting and QA processes
