We are looking for an experienced, confident, and team-oriented Lead Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) to join our practice and help lead our technical team. This is an excellent opportunity for an LVT who enjoys hands-on patient care, takes pride in strong technical skills, and is ready to take the next step into a leadership role. About the Position As our Lead LVT , you will play an important role in both patient care and the day-to-day leadership of our veterinary technician team. You will work alongside our veterinarians and support staff to ensure excellent medical care while helping create a positive, organized, and collaborative hospital environment. We are looking for someone who is not only technically strong, but who can lead by example, communicate effectively, mentor others, and help the team succeed. Key Responsibilities Provide high-quality nursing and technical care to hospitalized and outpatient patients Assist veterinarians with examinations, procedures, surgery, dentistry, anesthesia, and other medical services Perform and oversee technician duties including catheter placement, blood draws, anesthesia monitoring, radiology, laboratory procedures, pharmacy, and patient treatments Monitor hospitalized and surgical patients and ensure appropriate documentation and communication Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for veterinary technicians and assistants Help train, coach, and develop team members to strengthen their technical skills Provide leadership and support during busy or challenging shifts Help establish and maintain efficient workflows and high standards of patient care Promote a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment Assist with inventory, equipment, protocols, and other hospital operations as needed Communicate effectively with veterinarians, team members, clients, and management Lead by example in professionalism, patient care, teamwork, and client service What We're Looking For Current LVT credential in Virginia Strong hands-on veterinary technician skills and clinical knowledge Several years of experience working as a veterinary technician preferred Previous leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience strongly preferred Excellent anesthesia and patient-monitoring skills Strong communication and organizational abilities Ability to remain calm, focused, and supportive in a fast-paced environment A team player who is willing to jump in and help wherever needed A positive attitude and genuine commitment to quality patient care Someone who enjoys teaching and helping others grow professionally Dependable, accountable, and confident making decisions within their scope of practice Why Join Hanover Animal Hospital?
