Job Description

The University of Vermont Health Network seeks an MRI Technologist to perform high-quality diagnostic MRI exams in our academic healthcare setting. In this patient-centered role, you will screen and prepare patients, operate advanced MRI technology, and collaborate closely with radiologists and multidisciplinary teams to deliver accurate, timely imaging. You'll ensure safety, comfort, and clear communication for diverse patient populations while adhering to strict MRI safety and quality standards. Responsibilities Perform high-quality MRI exams following physician orders and safety protocols Screen patients for contraindications, obtain histories, and explain procedures Position patients and operate MRI equipment to produce diagnostic images Monitor patient comfort and safety, including use of contrast agents Collaborate with radiologists and care teams to optimize imaging and workflow Maintain equipment, troubleshoot basic issues, and report service needs Document procedures accurately within the electronic medical record Adhere to radiation safety, infection prevention, and regulatory standards Support training of students/new staff and participate in quality improvement Required Skills MRI scanning and protocols Patient positioning and immobilization Contrast administration and IV placement MRI safety screening and monitoring Operation of MRI consoles and PACSCross-sectional anatomy and pathology recognition Electronic medical record documentation Infection control and patient safety Radiation and magnetic field safety principles Communication with patients and clinical teams
