The CT Technologist serves as the computed tomography expert and assists the Director of Specialty Care and Imaging with day-to-day operations of the CT scanner. This position performs radiographic procedures and CT procedures at a technical level and is expected to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of imaging principles while utilizing departmental protocols. CT Technologists perform diagnostic computed tomography imaging procedures, as well as X-ray examinations, as needed and to perform department On Call rotation.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Diagnostic Imaging Performs and/or assists with all CT Procedures with efficiency and quality. Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed imaging techniques for radiologic diagnosis. Assumes responsibilities for assigned areas and is responsible for the safety and comfort of all patients undergoing imaging procedures. Demonstrates a complete working knowledge of all radiographic and CT equipment within the Imaging Department. Reviews images for proper positioning, technique, and patient identification in order to be sent to the Radiologist as a completed exam. Demonstrates proper use of patient shielding devices and uses ALARA consistently. Is able to adapt to customers' needs and explain imaging procedures to patient. Individualizes patient care using age related concepts and techniques. Documentation Appropriately records information necessary for maintaining a complete profile of the patient's visit to Radiology. Identifies the patient by verbally questioning their name and checking the name on the requisition against the patient's wristband. Checks for written physician order / code status / pertinent history in the patient's chart. Obtains and documents patient information on the requisition from various sources (physician's office, consulting physician, chart, etc.). Accurately inputs data into the computer including arrival and departure, transfer of films, schedules exams, and adds-on additional supplies and contrasts used. Maintains film jackets by verifying the accuracy of study/exam labels, names and dates. Completes incident reports to document any event not consistent with normal operation in Radiology. Informs Clinical Engineering of equipment problems by service request. Indicates completion of exam by signing off the patient's chart. Support Assists with workload scheduling. Assists with the direction and guidance for departmental workflow. Exercises responsibility for the day to day operation of CT services within the imaging Services department. Inventory and Supplies Demonstrates responsibility for the proper stocking and use of supplies and contrast media. Restocks the CT suit daily and maintains the uniformity of supplies according to department procedures. Monitors the condition of supplies for serviceability, cleanliness and expiration dates. Properly draws up contrast medium as directed by the radiologist and protocol manual. Inspects equipment and/or supplies and stores in correct area after use.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist Program. Registered with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) as a CT Technologist (CT). WA DOH Radiologic Technologist Certification Certified in AHA BLS within 30 days of hire and maintained while employed. Preferred Previous experience in an acute hospital setting

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position is primarily worked in a clinical environment. The position will require the ability to lift, and carry, up to 50 pounds and push or pull over 50 pounds. The position will require bending, twisting, squatting, reaching, reaching overhead, sitting and standing frequently. Occasionally the position requires climbing, kneeling and crawling. The position requires continuous finger dexterity and fine manipulation. All basic life functions such as hearing, seeing, speaking, standing and walking are required. The employee must demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. Supplemental Differential .
