Job Description

The purpose of this position is to provide support for cultural arts and other special events. Job duties consist of related specialized duties. Successful performance in this position contributes to the efficient and effective delivery of leisure services to area residents. FLSA status is Non-ExemptThe following duties are normal for this classification. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or logical assignments for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. Specific duties listed may not be required for all positions in this classification, but are determined by the normal requirements for this particular position.
PROGRAM & EVENT RESPONSIBILITIES
(35%) A ssists in the planning and development of events. D evelops and manages programs, classes, and workshops. R ecruits vendors and entertainment for special events. S et up and breakdown at events. P hotographs events and edits photos. W orks with groups within the Creative and Performing Arts Council to plan and publicize cultural arts events.
MARKETING DUTIES
(35%) A ssists with creating custom graphics to promote events. P romotes events, programs, classes, and workshops across various platforms and media C reates custom signage for each event (yard signs, billboards, a-frames, banners).. P romotes events using social media, community calendars, local publications, paid radio and television ads, and live and recorded television interviews. W rites promotional materials and press releases. D esign and write copy for each seasonal brochure and program for events throughout the year
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
(20%) A nswers email and telephone, and greets visitors; provides information and assistance. A ssists with recording information for annual grant applications and final reports.
OTHER RELATED DUTIES
(10%) A ssists other departments. P erforms other duties as needed or assigned. B achelors' Degree in Marketing or an Art related field preferred. T wo (2) years' experience in public relations, event planning or programming. T wo (2) years' of supervisory or volunteer management experience. F amiliarity with creative concepts and an appreciation of the arts is preferred. L ocal working knowledge of area art guilds, art classes, and grant writing is preferred. W illing to work nights and weekends. The following requirements are normal for this classification. Employees may be exposed to dust, dirt, grease, etc. J ob duties may require the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc. J ob duties require the ability to deal with and relate to people beyond giving and receiving instructions. J ob duties require the ability to talk, express, or exchange ideas by means of spoken words and/or hear and perceive the nature of sounds by ear. J ob candidates must be able to adapt to and perform under moderate stress. J ob duties require regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
City of Prattville employees are required to obtain knowledge of the City of Prattville Policies and Procedures, and knowledge of their specific department rules, policies, and procedures. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
M ust provide proof of your legal right to work in the United States. H igh School Diploma/GED. M ust possess and maintain a valid driver's license. M ust be able to lift 50 pounds. W illing to work overtime. W illing to cooperate with the workload of the department. W illing to comply with City of Prattville rules and regulations. M ust submit to drug screenings for this safety sensitive position. M ust accomplish the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations, in a timely manner.
