A Recreational Therapist directs and coordinates recreational activities for people with disabilities or illness to help them improve their emotional and physical well-being, improve motor skills and increase confidence. Leads activities involving movement, sports, games, and other activities for brain stimulation. Assists patients with disabilities to learn to use public resources such as parks and public transportation, and integrate in the community. Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

Job Description

Desert Springs, a premier retirement community in Oro Valley for active seniors, is presently looking for a dynamic and creative Activity Coordinator. This individual must have a friendly, professional, and energetic personality and have a passion for improving the lives of others. This is an exciting opportunity to provide a variety of fun and meaningful activities and fitness services for the residents of our active, independent living retirement community. The successful candidate for this position must possess a passion and ability for creating, developing and implementing a full event, activity and fitness program to satisfy the mind, body and spirit of our residents. Prior experience in event and activity planning are preferred. Additional education/experience with older adults is also preferred but not required.
