Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activity Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing engaging activities for residents in a long-term care or assisted living environment. Your primary focus will be to enhance the quality of life for our residents through recreational and therapeutic activities that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and physical well-being. Duties Develop and implement a variety of recreational activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents. Assist in coordinating special events and outings that encourage socialization and community involvement. Provide support to residents during activities, ensuring their safety and comfort. Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to understand individual needs and preferences. Maintain accurate records of resident participation in activities and monitor their progress. Collaborate with other team members, including caregiving staff and social workers, to provide holistic care. Assist with dementia care programs that promote cognitive engagement and emotional support. Manage schedules for activities to ensure a balanced program that meets the diverse needs of all residents. Experience Previous experience in caregiving or long-term care settings is preferred. Familiarity with home community care or assisted living environments is a plus. Background in recreational therapy or social work is advantageous but not required. Strong communication skills are essential for effective interaction with residents and team members. Ability to manage schedules efficiently while adapting to the changing needs of residents.
