The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, and leading engaging recreational activities tailored to seniors, including those with Alzheimer's, dementia, and other memory care needs. This role is vital in fostering social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being for our residents through creative programming and personalized care. The Activities Director will collaborate closely with staff, families, and community resources to create a vibrant and supportive environment. Responsibilities Develop and implement a diverse calendar of recreational activities that promote socialization, cognitive function, and physical activity for residents with varying needs. Coordinate special events, outings, and therapeutic programs aligned with residents' interests and abilities. Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed to ensure participation and comfort. Manage scheduling of activities to accommodate individual preferences and care plans. Provide therapeutic recreation tailored to residents with Alzheimer's, dementia, or other memory impairments. Work closely with nursing staff, social workers, and family members to assess resident needs and adapt programs accordingly. Maintain accurate documentation of resident participation and progress in activities. Counsel residents on aging issues and support their emotional well-being through engaging social interactions. Foster a positive environment that encourages independence, dignity, and community involvement. Qualifications CNA Certificate and Activities Director Certification Proven experience in event planning, recreational therapy, or senior care settings such as assisted living or nursing homes. Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, and long-term care best practices. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents of diverse backgrounds and abilities. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in home & community care environments is preferred. Ability to manage schedules efficiently while adapting to changing resident needs. Background in social work or counseling related to aging issues is advantageous. Demonstrated ability to coordinate activities that promote mental stimulation, physical health, and emotional support. Compassionate attitude with a genuine desire to improve the lives of seniors through engaging programming.
