What You'll Do Assess residents' interests, abilities, needs, and preferences Develop and implement individualized therapeutic recreation programs Lead individual and group therapeutic activities Create and oversee a monthly activity calendar and newsletter Provide meaningful engagement for residents with varying abilities Adapt activities to support cognitive, physical, emotional, and social needs Document assessments, participation, progress, and resident responses Collaborate with nursing and other members of the care team Lead and provide direction to Activity Team staff Coordinate and supervise volunteers, vendors, entertainers, and community partners Plain special events, holidays, and resident celebrations Develop new programs based on resident interests and needs Ensure activities comply with applicable regulations and facility policies Promote resident choice, dignity, independence, and quality of life What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation Therapy, or related field preferred/required based on applicable qualifications CTRS certification through NCTRC strongly preferred or Activity Director certification Experience providing recreational or therapeutic activities to older adults preferred Experience with assessment, documentation, and individualized programming preferred Strong leadership, communication, organization, and interpersonal skills Creative, compassionate, dependable, and able to work independently Comfortable working with residents with dementia, cognitive, physical, or behavioral needs Must be available to work weekends and holidays as needed
