Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activity Assistant to join our team in providing enriching experiences for residents in our assisted living and nursing home facilities. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with seniors and individuals with disabilities, creating engaging activities that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and overall well-being. This role is crucial in enhancing the quality of life for our residents through recreational therapy and meaningful engagement. Responsibilities Plan, organize, and implement a variety of activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents, including arts and crafts, games, music sessions, and outdoor events. Assist with scheduling and managing activity calendars to ensure a diverse range of programs are available. Facilitate group activities that encourage socialization among residents while fostering a sense of community. Provide support to residents during activities, ensuring their safety and comfort while encouraging participation. Collaborate with nursing staff to integrate therapeutic activities into the care plans for residents with Alzheimer's, dementia, or other cognitive impairments. Document participation in activities and gather feedback from residents to continually improve programming. Assist with daily living activities (ADLs) as needed, providing compassionate caregiving support to enhance the quality of life for each resident. Transporting residents for outings and doctor's appointments, etc. Requirements Previous experience in assisted living or nursing home settings is preferred. Familiarity with Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, or long-term care experience is highly desirable. Background in recreational therapy or social work is a plus. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff members. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated. Experience working with people with disabilities is beneficial. Knowledge of aging issues counseling will be considered an asset. A genuine passion for senior care and enhancing the lives of individuals through engaging activities is essential. Pay:
$19.50 - $20.00 per hour
