This position involves planning, organizing, and facilitating engaging activities tailored to the interests and abilities of seniors, including those with Alzheimer's, dementia, and other memory care needs. The Activity Assistant works collaboratively with staff to create a supportive environment that promotes social interaction, physical activity, and cognitive stimulation. Duties Plan and implement a variety of recreational activities that cater to the diverse interests of residents. Assist in the coordination of special events and outings to enhance resident engagement. Provide support for residents during activities, ensuring their safety and comfort. Maintain accurate records of resident participation and preferences to tailor future activities. Collaborate with nursing staff to integrate therapeutic activities into residents' care plans. Facilitate group discussions and social interactions to foster community among residents. Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed. Engage with families to encourage participation in activities and provide updates on resident involvement. Skills Experience in event planning and organizing recreational programs. Background in assisted living or nursing home environments is preferred. Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, memory care, and senior care practices. Familiarity with recreational therapy techniques and working with individuals with disabilities. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff. Ability to manage schedules effectively while accommodating resident needs. Understanding of aging issues counseling and social work principles is a plus. Compassionate caregiving skills with experience in long-term care or home & community care settings.
