A Recreational Therapist directs and coordinates recreational activities for people with disabilities or illness to help them improve their emotional and physical well-being, improve motor skills and increase confidence. Leads activities involving movement, sports, games, and other activities for brain stimulation. Assists patients with disabilities to learn to use public resources such as parks and public transportation, and integrate in the community. Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

Job Description

Castle Country Assisted Living is hiring for a part-time Activities Coordinator for our Cantril House Memory Care residents. The Assistant Activities Coordinator is responsible for implementing planned events, leading events with our residents in accordance with the Activities calendar, preparing for and decorating holiday events, and maintaining the environment. This position also works closely with the Culinary Department to coordinate meals and activities. This position requires occasional evening and weekend hours! We are looking for a well rounded, vibrant and compassionate person with experience working with the senior population. Someone who will enjoy knowing the residents, providing companionship and filling their days with engaging activities. Experience with party planning, arts & crafts, games, and imagination preferred!
Job Qualifications:
A commitment to the values of CCAL. Ability to speak, read and write English fluently. Computer / internet literate. Ability to relate to residents and staff in a courteous and diplomatic manner under all circumstances. Ability to think, act, and intervene independently in both routine and emergency situations. Must be self-motivated and demonstrate leadership when working with coworkers and residents. Excellent communication and public relations skills. Must be willing to expand skills as needed for position. Must be willing to accept flexible hours as needed for special occasions. May include early morning, weekend or evening hours. Must have had at least six months experience in providing structured resident engagement offerings or have completed or be enrolled in an equivalent education and/or training program.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of State Regulations for Assisted Livings. Experience working with seniors at all levels of cognition. Experience working / networking in Assisted Living or other Senior Services organizations. Please reply to this ad or apply in person at our Cantril House / Castle Rock location.
Pay:
$20.00 - $22.00 per hour
