Job Purpose The Life Enrichment Director oversees all aspects of the community's Activity Program. This individual is responsible for designing curriculum and activities that encourage socialization; provide entertainment, relaxation, and fulfillment; and support residents in maintaining or improving daily living skills. The Life Enrichment Director must demonstrate strong leadership ability, creativity, and a passion for working closely with the elderly population. A positive attitude and enthusiasm are essential. The position carries delegated responsibility to perform all duties in accordance with Community Policies and Procedures and all relevant rules and regulations. The Life Enrichment Director is accountable for the day-to-day supervision of assigned staff, including oversight of job performance to ensure continuous, predictable, high-quality, safe, and efficient care for Community residents. Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: The Life Enrichment Director plans, implements, and evaluates activity programming, coordinates schedules, and maintains equipment and activity spaces.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
Manage daily preparation and maintenance of snack areas; ensure snacks, beverages, and coffee are replenished. Oversee monthly management of food and liquor inventory for activities and events. Create and distribute newsletters, activity calendars, daily flyers, and communication materials. Plan and prepare events, including all major holidays, weekly Happy Hours, and special programs—managing entertainment, setup, communication, and follow-through. Decorate the community for holidays and themed events. Plan enriching and engaging outings based on resident interests. Co-coordinate and facilitate monthly Resident Council meetings with the Executive Director. Contribute to the Quality Management Program (QMP). Review and respond to emails and voicemails daily. Manage and adhere to the monthly Life Enrichment department expense budget. Assist the team in identifying and monitoring residents' spiritual, recreational, and emotional needs. Report noticeable changes in residents' condition to the Wellness team. Provide continuous supervision of department team members, including training, coaching, discipline, motivation, and performance evaluation. Assist with recruiting and selecting competent activity team members. Present a professional demeanor that reflects the philosophy and values of the Community. Handle all resident, family, and staff concerns or complaints in a polite, caring, and professional manner. Assist in department activities and fill in as needed. Serve as Manager-on-Duty when assigned by the Executive Director. Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director. Qualifications and Experience Eager to learn and be part of a strong team. Successful completion of background check and motor vehicle driving record checks. Pass routine TB test. Maintain annual seasonal flu shot. Able to use general office equipment and required computer systems. Demonstrates dependable, regular attendance. Able to communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team. Experience and willingness to work with elderly residents, including individuals with dementia. - In-person position within a senior living community environment.
- May involve exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and various conditions—use of PPE is required when applicable.
- Frequent interaction with residents, family members, and community guests.
- Must be able to drive residents to and from outings safely. Physical Requirements
- Must have ability to lift and move over 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, push, and pull throughout the day.
- Must be able to assist residents with mobility as needed.
