As a small, family-owned organization, we prioritize creating a warm and welcoming environment for both our residents and staff. Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Activities Assistant to enrich the lives of our residents through engaging recreational programs and social activities. The ideal candidate will have experience working with seniors, strong organizational skills, and a passion for enhancing quality of life in a long-term care setting. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the daily experiences of our residents. You will be required to work every other weekend. Your schedule is a 4 week rotating schedule, 4 days per week, 38 hours per week. Three of your days are 9:30am-8:00pm, and one day is 9:30 am-6:00pm. Duties Coordinate, and facilitate a variety of resident-centered activities that promote socialization, cognitive stimulation, and physical well-being. Assist in developing activity programs tailored to residents' interests, abilities, and care needs, including memory care and dementia-specific activities. Build strong rapport with residents by fostering positive interactions and understanding individual preferences. Collaborate with team members to ensure activities align with residents' care plans and therapeutic goals. Support residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed, including mobility assistance and participation encouragement. Manage scheduling of events and ensure all activity supplies are well-maintained and organized. Communicate effectively with residents' families regarding activity participation and progress to enhance resident engagement. Qualifications Prior experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or senior care environments is highly preferred. Knowledge of recreational therapy techniques, Alzheimer's care, dementia care, and geriatrics. Strong event planning skills with the ability to develop engaging programs for diverse resident populations. Excellent communication skills to foster resident rapport building and team collaboration. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or memory impairments is advantageous. Demonstrated ability to coordinate resident events while managing schedules efficiently.
