Job Overview Diamond Senior Living, a benchmark wellness oriented senior community, seeks a compassionate and energetic Activities Assistant to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents within our assisted living and memory care environments. The ideal candidate will have experience in senior care, dementia and Alzheimer's care, and/or recreational therapy, with a passion for enhancing quality of life through social, recreational, and therapeutic activities. This part time position is expected to work at least one weekend day as coordinated with Program Director and must work closely with residents to promote socialization, mental stimulation, and overall well-being while supporting individual needs and preferences. Responsibilities Plan, organize, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents' interests and abilities, including social events, games, arts and crafts, music therapy, and outings. Manage activity schedules to ensure a balanced program that promotes engagement and participation. Collaborate with nursing staff and other team members to incorporate therapeutic goals into activity planning, especially for residents with dementia or memory impairments. Maintain accurate records of resident participation and activity outcomes. Leading activities, conducting exercise, arts, craft, games and other group activities as well as one on one sensory activities. Assist with planning and organizing activities and events Actively motivate and encourage resident participation in activities by inviting, reminding and escorting/guiding residents to activities Set up room/area and materials needed before the activity event and clean up after event Ensure resident safety following all safety rules Communicate physical, sensory, behavioral or psychosocial changes of residents to clinical supervisor Maintain cleanliness and organization of supply storage areas Maintain inventory of supplies Establish relationships with residents family members Requirements Prior experience in assisted living, nursing home settings, or long-term care preferred; experience working with individuals with Alzheimer's disease or dementia is highly desirable. Knowledge of recreational therapy techniques and activity planning for seniors or individuals with disabilities. Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, and team members. Ability to assist residents with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) as needed. Excellent organizational skills for schedule management and event coordination. Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in enhancing the well-being of seniors through engaging activities. Experience in caregiving or home & community care is a plus. Ability to work well within a team environment while maintaining patience and empathy for residents facing aging issues or cognitive challenges.
