Activity Director We are seeking a dedicated, creative, and compassionate Memory Care Activity Director to develop and lead engaging, meaningful activities for residents in a specialized memory care community. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for working with seniors and a desire to enhance the quality of life for individuals living with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, and other cognitive impairments. This position offers an opportunity to create purposeful experiences that promote social connection, independence, cognitive stimulation, and emotional well-being while helping residents feel valued, engaged, and part of a community. Responsibilities Develop, coordinate, and facilitate engaging daily activity programs designed specifically for residents with memory impairments. Plan and implement a variety of cognitive, physical, social, creative, sensory, and recreational activities based on residents' interests, abilities, and life experiences. Organize special events, celebrations, entertainment, community outings, and meaningful resident experiences. Build relationships with residents and learn their individual preferences, histories, interests, and abilities to create personalized engagement opportunities. Collaborate with caregiving and leadership team members to identify resident needs and adapt activities accordingly. Maintain a consistent daily and monthly activity schedule that provides opportunities for participation throughout the day. Encourage socialization and meaningful interaction among residents while creating a welcoming and inclusive environment. Modify activities to accommodate varying cognitive, physical, and functional abilities. Maintain accurate records of activity participation, resident preferences, and other required activity documentation. Assist residents with activities when appropriate, while promoting independence, dignity, and safety. Work with families, volunteers, entertainers, and community partners to enhance the activity program. Help create an environment where residents experience purpose, connection, enjoyment, and meaningful engagement each day. Participate in staff meetings, training, and other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Experience Previous experience working in assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, or another senior care setting preferred. Experience developing or coordinating activities, recreational programs, events, or therapeutic programming. Knowledge of dementia and Alzheimer's care practices and effective approaches for engaging individuals with cognitive impairment. Ability to adapt activities to meet a wide range of cognitive, physical, and functional abilities. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage activity calendars, schedules, supplies, and multiple events. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Creative, energetic, patient, and compassionate approach to working with seniors. Ability to work collaboratively with residents, families, caregivers, leadership, volunteers, and community partners. Experience assisting residents with activities of daily living and providing supportive engagement is a plus. Prior experience in memory care or dementia-focused programming is highly desirable.
