In this vital role, you will design, coordinate, and oversee a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents' interests and needs, fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive environment. Your enthusiasm and leadership will inspire residents to participate actively, promoting socialization, mental stimulation, and overall well-being. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors while utilizing your skills in event planning, program development, and team coordination. Duties Develop and implement diverse activity programs that cater to residents' physical, emotional, and social needs, including memory care and dementia-friendly activities. Coordinate resident events such as outings, celebrations, therapeutic activities, and recreational therapy sessions to promote engagement and community involvement. Build strong rapport with residents by understanding their preferences and abilities, assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), and fostering a welcoming atmosphere. Lead a team of activity staff or volunteers by providing training, supervision, and support to ensure smooth program execution. Maintain detailed records of activities, resident participation, and feedback to continually improve program offerings. Collaborate with nursing staff, caregivers, and family members to tailor activities that support individual care plans and aging issues counseling. Manage schedules efficiently to ensure timely planning and execution of all resident-centered events while maintaining compliance with safety protocols. Experience Proven experience in activity planning within assisted living facilities or nursing homes, especially with seniors experiencing memory care or dementia. Strong background in recreational therapy or senior care programs with familiarity in geriatrics and working with geriatric patients. Demonstrated ability to develop engaging programs that promote socialization and mental stimulation for residents with disabilities or cognitive impairments. Excellent communication skills for effective client interaction, resident rapport building, and team leadership. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for scheduling, documentation, and program development purposes. Prior experience working in long-term care or home & community care settings is highly desirable. Knowledge of Alzheimer's care principles and experience working with individuals with disabilities will be considered an asset.
