Responsibilities Develop and implement diverse activity programs that cater to residents' interests, abilities, and care needs, including memory care and dementia-specific activities. Coordinate resident events such as social gatherings, outings, recreational therapy sessions, and special celebrations to promote engagement and community bonding. Build strong rapport with residents through personalized interactions, understanding their preferences, and encouraging participation in activities. Collaborate with caregiving staff, nursing teams, and family members to ensure activities align with individual care plans and support overall well-being. Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) when needed, including mobility assistance or participation encouragement. Manage schedules efficiently to ensure timely execution of programs while maintaining flexibility for resident needs. Maintain accurate records of activities conducted, resident participation levels, and feedback for continuous improvement. SUMMARY The Activities Manager plans and implements a program of stimulating activities and social opportunities to meet the interests and capabilities of the Residents. The program meets the Resident's spiritual, cultural, intellectual, physical, and social needs inside and outside the residence. Communicate available programs to Residents, families, staff and encourage participation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Complies with facility policies and procedures. Maintains a schedule and calendar of activities based on Resident interest and participation, providing a minimum of 12 hours of AL activities / functions weekly. Leads and /or oversees individual and group activities on a daily basis, encouraging Resident participation. Maintains a neat and clean activity area, including storage. Post calendars monthly. Survey Resident interests and talents in developing a diverse program. Continuously evaluates program with Resident, family and staff input. Develops and maintains positive relationships with Residents to promote open communication. Develops and maintains staffing schedule for Activity Department and Transportation Department. Ensures periodic themed social functions involving food services. Ensures some social functions that include family members. Works with sales staff to support in-house events. Schedules, participates, and maintains minutes for the monthly Resident council meetings. Coordinate and decorate the residence and bulletin board monthly with a seasonal and / or holiday theme. Procures supplies needed for activities, games, etc. ensuring that costs are maintained in the budget guidelines. Participates in training, in- services, and attends meetings as required. Remains updated to policies, procedures, and employee handbook. Coordinate medical visits and provide transportation on designated days. Oversees van maintenance and operations and provides opportunities for off-site activities and functions as well as driving Residents to activities if necessary. Experience Proven experience in event planning within senior living facilities or assisted living environments. Prior experience working with seniors in long-term care settings such as nursing homes or memory care units. Knowledge of Alzheimer's disease, dementia care, geriatrics, and aging issues counseling is highly desirable. Familiarity with recreational therapy techniques and program development tailored for geriatric patients. Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and scheduling purposes. Demonstrated ability to build resident rapport while maintaining professional boundaries.
