Empower RT primarily serves adults and older adults across a diverse range of diagnoses, abilities, and care environments. Populations may include individuals with dementia, stroke, neurological conditions, physical disabilities, behavioral health conditions, chronic health conditions, and age-related functional changes. Service settings may include acute-care inpatient hospitals, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, residential mental health programs, rehabilitation settings, senior living communities, private homes, community programs, and other clinical and community environments. Position Overview Empower RT is seeking a skilled, clinically focused Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) to join our team as a 1099 independent contractor. This position is ideal for a Recreational Therapist who is confident working independently, managing an individual client caseload, developing and implementing clinically appropriate interventions, facilitating therapeutic groups, and collaborating with clients, families, healthcare professionals, and community partners.

The contractor will primarily work with adult and older adult clients and should be comfortable providing services to individuals with diverse physical, cognitive, neurological, behavioral health, and psychosocial needs. Experience working with dementia and/or stroke populations is strongly preferred. The contractor will be responsible for providing high-quality recreational therapy services while maintaining professional standards, timely documentation, effective communication, and strong client relationships. The ideal candidate is a clinician who is also comfortable functioning independently as a self-employed professional. Key Responsibilities Clinical Practice

• Uphold and practice in accordance with the American Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA) Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics
• Complete comprehensive recreational therapy assessments using appropriate standardized and non-standardized assessment tools.
• Identify client strengths, needs, interests, barriers, and functional goals.
• Develop individualized, measurable treatment plans based on assessment findings and client-centered goals.
• Implement evidence-informed recreational therapy interventions addressing physical, cognitive, emotional, social, behavioral, and leisure-related outcomes.
• Provide individual and group therapeutic recreation programming.
• Modify interventions based on client response, progress, safety, and changing needs.
• Complete ongoing evaluation of treatment effectiveness and make appropriate recommendations.
• Provide services across diverse clinical, residential, hospital, home, and community environments.
• Utilize sound clinical judgment and recognize when client needs require communication with another healthcare professional or referral to another discipline.
• Maintain appropriate clinical boundaries and professional standards. Caseload & Client Management
• Independently manage an assigned client caseload.
• Coordinate and schedule client sessions based on client needs and contractor availability.
• Maintain consistent communication with clients, families, caregivers, referral sources, and professional partners.
• Coordinate services and communicate relevant updates with interdisciplinary team members when appropriate.
• Maintain professional relationships with healthcare providers, facilities, families, and community organizations. Documentation & Clinical Administration
• Complete required assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, evaluations, and other clinical documentation accurately and within required timelines.
• Maintain documentation that accurately reflects skilled recreational therapy services and client progress.
• Communicate promptly regarding changes in client status, safety concerns, scheduling issues, or circumstances affecting service delivery.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with applicable privacy and professional standards. Professional Development & Business Development
• Maintain current professional credentials, certifications, and continuing education requirements applicable to the contractor's practice.
• Remain current with evidence-informed recreational therapy practices and relevant clinical populations.
• Support Empower RT's professional networking, community outreach, referral development, and marketing efforts.
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with potential referral sources and community partners.
• Represent Empower RT professionally when interacting with healthcare organizations, community partners, families, and referral sources.
• Identify opportunities for new programming, partnerships, and community-based services. Schedule & Independent Contractor Structure This is a 1099 independent contractor / self-employed position that provides flexibility and autonomy in establishing your own work schedule.

Compensation:

$50/hour.

• Contractors establish their own availability and schedule services around their assigned caseload, client needs, and program requirements.
• Contractors should maintain approximately 25+ hours of availability per week to support consistent caseload development and client coverage.
• Opportunities to provide 40+ hours per week may be available as client referrals, program needs, and service volume support additional caseload capacity.
• Actual hours will vary based on referral volume, client needs, program demand, contractor availability, and mutually agreed-upon assignments.
• Guarantee of 25 paid hours per week; available work is dependent upon client referrals and service demand.
• Contractors are responsible for managing their own schedules, including appointments, travel time, cancellations, and personal availability.
• No paid sick time, PTO, vacation time, holiday pay, or other employee leave benefits are provided.
• As a self-employed contractor, you determine when you are available to provide services and are responsible for managing your own time away from contracted work.
• No employee benefits are provided, including health insurance, retirement benefits, unemployment benefits, or paid time off.
• Contractors are responsible for their own federal, state, and local tax obligations.
• Contractors are responsible for maintaining professional liability insurance and any other business requirements applicable to independent practice.

Travel & Service Area Empower RT is a mobile recreational therapy practice, and this position requires regular and potentially daily travel to client homes, healthcare facilities, residential programs, senior living communities, community locations, and other service sites.

Primary service areas generally include:

Marietta, Atlanta, Alpharetta, Roswell , Smyrna, Kennesaw , and surrounding North Atlanta communities Travel Requirements

• Reliable personal transportation is required.
• Valid driver's license and automobile insurance are required.
• Contractors are responsible for transportation to and between service locations.
• Gas reimbursement, mileage reimbursement, vehicle allowance, and other travel compensation are not provided.
• Contractors are responsible for their own vehicle maintenance, fuel, insurance, and other transportation-related expenses.
• Contractors should consider travel time and geographic service area when establishing their weekly availability. Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Recreational Therapy / Therapeutic Recreation
• Current Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) credential through NCTRC required.
• Strong clinical assessment, treatment planning, intervention, evaluation, and documentation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal day-to-day oversight.
• Experience working with adults and/or older adults.
• Experience working with individuals with diverse diagnoses, abilities, and functional needs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
