A Recreational Therapist directs and coordinates recreational activities for people with disabilities or illness to help them improve their emotional and physical well-being, improve motor skills and increase confidence. Leads activities involving movement, sports, games, and other activities for brain stimulation. Assists patients with disabilities to learn to use public resources such as parks and public transportation, and integrate in the community. Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

This is a full-time, variable shift position working 32 hours per week. The exact hours are to be determined - 8-hour shifts with a rotating weekend schedule. MUST have a bachelor's degree in behavioral health or related field. Need to have ability to lead engaging recreational and leisure therapy groups, work collaboratively with interdisciplinary team members, and maintain a therapeutic, supportive approach when working with behavioral health patients.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducts patient assessments and establishes recreational/leisure therapy treatment goals. Evaluates each patient's progress and the effectiveness of recreational/leisure therapy interventions. Coordinates therapeutic recreational/leisure activities for both large and small groups. Observes patient response and encourages socialization. Provides patient with information regarding resources and therapeutic recreational/leisure activities in the community. Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Health or related field

Frequent walking, reaching, gripping and keyboard use/data entry. Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, sitting, squatting, twisting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
